About Barry

Barry Currivan is a Spoken Word Artist and, sometimes, a Poet whose personal mission is β€œTo make people, who never dreamed of going to a poetry gig, dream of coming to one of mine.”

Barry is a Twice All- Ireland Slam Poetry Finalist, finishing third overall in 2023.

In 2024 he performed at Electric Picnic, Forest Fest and The Works Festival, as well as at a number of UNESCO sponsored events in Pearse Street Library.

He finished off the year by publishing a collection of his poems in the book "If not If, what?" which is selling very well at his gigs as well as in a number of Independent Book Shops in Dublin City centre.

As a writer, his influences would be mostly classical and would also include many of the great English and American poets of the last century. He has managed to merge these influences with the styles and spirit of the cultural movements that have occurred in his own lifetime such as Punk Rock and Hip Hop.

Barry continues to broaden his audience and is winning many of the "Never dreamed of going to a Poetry Gig Demographic" over to his side. There are many samples of his work available to listen to and watch in his various social media posts
