The Illuminations poetry open mic has been held on the first Thursday of every month since 2013, when it was first staged as a part of the North West Pride Festival at the Bookmart. Hosted by Patrick Curley and attended by a friendly cast of regulars, it occasionally features performances by the bookshop owners, Donal and Adam.
Illuminations fosters a welcoming environment where anyone can feel a part of the community, regardless of who they are.
Currently, the poetry nights are held at the Model on the Mall. The larger space accommodates even bigger events, attracting many new faces. The meetings continue to take place at 8pm on the first Thursday of every month.
