Open Mic Social

The monthly Open Mic Social at the Kilrush shop is a free, welcoming event for lovers of poetry, flash fiction, and all forms of creative writing. Attendees are invited to read their own work, share a favourite piece by another writer, or simply come along to listen and support fellow creatives. Tea, coffee, and treats are provided, and while the event is free, a 'Tip Jar' will be available for those who wish to contribute towards expenses. This month’s featured guest is Rosemary Power, a prolific writer and editor who has published ten books, including Kilfenora, Killinaboy and Scattery Island on Pilgrim Ways (2015) and Image and Vision (2022), a reflection on illuminations in the Book of Kells. Her collected poems are due for publication this year. In addition to her poetry, she writes academically on Viking and medieval Norse-Gaelic literature, folk tradition, and edits the local studies journal The Other Clare.
