Fingal Poetry Festival presents WAVIN’ WORDS, an exciting youth slam poetry event as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2025. Taking place on Friday, 7th June from 4pm to 9pm on the Chapel stage at Swords Castle, this high-energy celebration of young voices invites poets aged 14–18 to slam, rap, or read their work live. The event is hosted by poet and performer Sheila Ryder—well known from the Fingal Poetry Slam series—and features special appearances from All-Ireland Slam Champion Leon Dunne, Wexford’s Poet Laureate Sasha Terfous, and the Poetry is Dead podcast. Open mic kicks off at 6pm, and spontaneous performers are welcome to join on the day. Young poets interested in taking part can message @wavinwords on Instagram or email sheila.ryder@fingal.ie.
